You might be feeling so lost and hopeless right now. Maybe you never imagined you would be looking for a couples therapist. Perhaps couples therapy has always felt like a last resort. The relationship you once looked to for strength and joy is beginning to feel like a source of pain and disconnection. You are feeling more and more lonely- you worry about the direction your relationship is going.
I want you to know you are in the right place. You can transform your disconnection and negative communication patterns into connection and intimacy. By saying yes to therapy and committing yourself to the process, you can pivot from this place of distress to a place of connection and security. Emotionally Focused Therapy is a proven framework that will help each of you feel heard, seen and loved by the other person. Even if right now it feels like you and your partner are worlds apart.
EFT principles and learnings can be applied to working with couples as well as individuals who are seeking to transform their relationships.
I will show you the map you need to get things back on track! This work is too important to ignore. I look forward to working with you

Relationships can be wonderful! But boy, sometimes they can take a turn and leave us in dark places, questioning our life choices, and thinking thoughts we’d never thought we’d think about our partners. You’re not alone! And chances are, with a little help, the impasses you believed to be impossible are actually quite manageable - and the wounds that you thought would never heal are indeed quite mendable. When working with couples, I draw primarily from the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model, an evidence-based approach that has been shown to be highly effective in helping partners re-establish healthy, intimate connections. In therapy, I will strive to ensure that you both feel heard, not judged. There are no bad guys, and we’re all on the same side (even if it doesn’t feel that way right now)! I will strive to provide a safe environment so that you can be truly honest, with yourself and with your partner. I also work with individuals, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re coming in on your own! I work with individuals struggling with addiction, depression, and anxiety. I am a Person-Centered therapist that borrows principles from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches.

Have you ever noticed how romantic comedies or romance novels usually end as soon as the couple gets together? And we part from the story satiated by the universal sentiment that the couple lives happily ever after. Except…in the real world, that’s not where the story ends. The couple’s story continues through ups and downs, hardships, and joyous occasions – but the audience isn’t privy to the disagreements, problem solving, communication, resolution, and growth that the couple must progress through to maintain their relationship. These are skills and situations that we don’t see normalized in mainstream media. I am here to tell you that happy couples have disagreements. These couples can get into negative cycles that cause them distress. This can result in both partners feeling isolated, shut-out, shut-down, and further not having their needs met. I view the path to change, growth, and self-betterment through a holistic lens taking into consideration what you share about your environment, physical health, social climate, psychological state, and spiritual connections as I believe these all play a role in the wellbeing of your whole self and your relationship. I work with couples from an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy approach where we dig into the underlying emotions and needs of each partner. I lean into your expertise on your own life by collaborating with you to determine what works best for your unique relationship. You determine your path forward. Through this collaboration I am always eager to learn what you hope to get out of couples counselling and what you need from me as your counselor.

Acknowledging marital challenges can be difficult, and recognizing that seeking external support might be the answer is even more challenging. Typically, the decision to explore marriage counseling is accompanied with umpteen apprehensions like fear of perceived labels, cultural norms, privacy concerns. Initiating this conversation is a tough endeavor. Merely broaching the topic of marriage counseling implies that there are genuine concerns within the relationship, and that there may be unfulfillment within the marriage.
It’s crucial to get these concerns addressed and recognize that there are actionable steps you and your partner can take to steer your relationship back toward a positive course. Although it might be tempting to ignore problems and let them brew beneath the surface, many couples discover that their issues persist unless resolved actively. This is where the role of marriage counseling becomes significant.
When the relationship encounters challenges, engaging in marriage counseling can be a constructive approach to address the discrepancies between partners. Seeking the assistance of a neutral third party, such as a counselor like myself, often facilitates open and honest communication. Couples often find themselves facing a myriad of challenges as they navigate the intricate terrain of a relationship. Communication breakdowns stand as one of the most common hurdles, where misunderstandings and misinterpretations can erode trust and intimacy. Trust issues, stemming from past experiences or breaches of confidence, can cast long shadows over a partnership, making it challenging to fully open up to one another. Financial stresses, from managing joint finances to divergent spending habits, can introduce strain into a relationship. The demands of modern life, such as career pressures and time constraints, can lead to neglecting the emotional connection that initially brought two people together. Differences in values, beliefs, or goals may surface over time, creating friction and doubts about long-term compatibility. Additionally, the unexpected trials life throws at us, from health crises to family conflicts, can test the resilience of a relationship. Infidelity, a devastating challenge, can shatter trust and leave emotional scars that demand extensive healing. These challenges are not meant to define a relationship but to test it, offering opportunities for growth, understanding, and ultimately, a deeper connection. In facing these challenges head-on, couples have the potential to emerge stronger, having fortified their bond through shared experiences and effective communication. The journey of confronting and overcoming these obstacles is where I can help you, providing guidance, tools, and a safe space to address these issues and foster a healthier, more fulfilling partnership. Through therapy, couples can gain valuable insights into their patterns of interaction, develop effective communication skills, and rekindle the love and connection that brought them together in the first place. Together, we can create a path towards a more harmonious and fulfilling partnership.
I’ve dedicated my career to understanding the intricacies of human relationships and have specialized in couples therapy. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and have 4 years of experience working with couples and individuals from all walks of life. To enhance my skills, I have a certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

You find yourselves getting into the same fights over and over again. You’re both trying to find a way back to each other but it’s becoming harder and harder. Seemingly small issues are difficult to overcome, while disconnection happens quicker and more frequently. You may even lose sight of what brought you together in the first place, and begin to question whether the relationship was ever truly whole. As the cycle of frustration and disconnection takes root, effective communication and emotional support are out of reach, but the love is still there -somewhere.
Your bond with your partner can be a source of tremendous strength and healing. I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), focusing on attachment needs, to help you gain an understanding of why and how these fights come out of nowhere and cause so much physical, emotional, and relational distress. Exploring these moments of strife creates new opportunities to show up for each other, to practice rebuilding trust.
The corrective emotional experiences that occur through this process can result in meaningful change, shifting negative patterns, and naturally generating new pathways forward. My goal is to go beyond cognitively understanding the situation in order to create opportunities for you and your partner(s) to have deep experiential moments of connection and safety.
